Hello,
I have users that are unable to create "Sprint" from Agile Development > Releases. I tested this in my personal instance and got the same error message. I have groups created with Type = Agile Team. Is this OOB functionality?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks Michael. I basically changed the OOB functionality (made the AG field editable) so users can create sprints via releases.

I have the same problem, what did you edit to make this change?

Thanks; creating new sprint from Group worked as mentioned.

For some reason there is a Dictionary Override for the Assignment Group field for the rm_sprint table which makes the field Mandatory. I unchecked this box on my instance. Not 100% sure if that might break something...
I also created a Sprints module so that Sprints may be reviewed and created directly, without needing to use the "Agile Board". Seems to work so far. Had to add the "Assignment Group" field to the form, otherwise New sprints could not be saved.
