Groups and role management

Hi all,

 

There are a few users from upper management who are part of a few assignment groups thus utilizing ITIL and some other roles. I want to keep them in those groups so that they can be part of notification and other amenities that comes with being part of assignment group.

 

Solution that I came up is to create a group with "ITIL" role and add everyone in it and remove ITIL role from assignment thus giving ITIL role with only needful users while keeping Management in those groups.

 

I am looking for Cons and Pros for going with this approach.

Hi,

Separating role and assignment groups works well for the purpose you noted. But here are a few things you may want to consider.

a. What will be the trigger to add and remove users to and from the role group ?

b. Will automation help with the process above ?

c. Will membership of this group be maintained directly in ServiceNow or is there a separate system where this will be done ?
