Is there a way to record a hardware models end of service / end of life date?   I can't see anything obvious under the hardware model record/form, I looked at Contracts but the dates for specific models are different so that would require a lot of differen

I will add my two cents -- Software Models have an End of Life field, but Hardware Models do not.  Since any type of Product Model has a manufacturer, it inherently should support the ability to have an End of Life.  But to define this as a custom field on the Product Model would cause duplicate fields to appear on the Software Model.  On the other hand, defining this on each table for each type of Product Model means that you cannot query across all models.  As a result I can't simply dot-walk all CIs/Assets to get their Model End of Life, because they will have different Product Models depending on the CI.  This makes it harder to report on CIs because you have to account for every type and every individual field.  Bleh.

Also, it would be great if we could define this a bit more generically.  Different models and different manufacturers may provide different dates that are worth tracking as distinct dates.  As an example CISCO sometimes provides different end dates for end of sale, availability of security patches or firmware upgrades, up to the final hardware end of support.  Each of these dates is potentially significant.  If managing a compliant environment, you may need to know specifically when security fixes are no longer being offered for a device and use that as a date to retire and replace those assets.
