How do you import date fields from excel?

I've been sifting through the Importing articles on the wiki, and trying various settings, but I'm still not having any luck. I want to import a number of tasts and set the Opened date field.

In excel, I've tried using various date formats, the General cell format, and the apostrophe ' prefix in the cell. Whenever I run the import it sets it to a random date like year 0099 AD etc.

Hello Everyone,

I am facing an issue with the date field in the transform map. If the source field from the excel sheet is empty, after transform map, it is defaulting to some default date as 02-09-1900 00:00:00.

I want that field to be empty if the source data is coming as empty. Has anyone faced this issue?

Could you please help me on this. As you see that gate column has some blank values, however after running transform, it was field with some default date value as posted in my earlier reply of this thread.

Take a look at the transform map? Are you copying empty fields?

Do you have anything in the transform script that might be acting on these fields and their values?

Hi Chuck,

That copy empty field was not checked in our instance and there is no script running against those fields.

When I checked import set record, there was also those are filled with some default date "02-07-1900"
