How do you manage audio/visual (A/V) / meeting room equipment?

Hi,

How do you manage your audio visual or meeting room equipment such as projectors, screens, conferencing equipment, etc. ?

Do you have a new asset class for them, what do you do for their configuration items - do you create a new class or extend?

Just looking for recommendations & best practice on how to manage these sorts of equipment (surprised it's not standard as most companies have this sort of A/V equipment in meeting rooms etc.)

I am working with SN innovation group and they asked me to build an AV working group. Right now it is under Higher Education Special Interest Group. We'll be posting regularly and to answer your question: IMO put them in separate class/group because in most cases it is a separate budget....makes it easier to manage an ITFM module.....there are other advantages (life cycle management, software tracking EOL/EOS managemnet...but these are my main selling point).

I am not in Higher Education but I have an interest in this group and will join.  I am starting a project to manage meeting rooms, equipment in the CMDB, Service Catalog for requesting room setup etc.  I would prefer not to build custom classes if this is something that SN is working on, but may not be able to afford to wait.  Thanks for the post!
