How to provide user access to building CI Relationships in the CMDB

Hello,

I am currently looking to find out what Role(s) need to be given in User Administration in order to provide someone with the access to build the CI relationships in the CMDB. Currently the users in question have access to the Configuration Application and can access CI records however the + sign to build the relationships is not appearing:

Side Question: Is there a document/article that provides a break down of all available user roles in ServiceNow and what they provide access to?

Thank you!

Hi Trevor,

The cmdb_rel_ci tables holds the CI relationship data. Users with itil and asset roles have oob access to create and write data in this table.

Here is few information on Base system roles: http://wiki.servicenow.com/index.php?title=Base_System_Roles#gsc.tab=0

Thanks

After installing mid server onto windows machine ,can you please explain     how we can get the ci's in the network into the CMDB. how we use discovery in this process. We have to create the relationships to various classes manually ? or They are discovered and put into automatically into CMDB?.

Thanks in advance

Hi Trevor,

You can provide 'itil' or 'asset' roles to users.

I did a simple check on cmdb_rel_ci table acl.. it is allowed for above roles.

I did not go through any documentation and based on above should work.
