Import Hardware asset from excel

Hi Friends,

Good Morning !

I want to import Hardware asset from an excel. I have customized hardware asset form as per my need.

However I am not sure, where I can enter data for Model category and model as both the mantatory fields.

Please consider below screenshot for the same.

Could someone please assist with this.

HI,

So when you import model id as well as manufactures and add categories to model id and then map them to Asset.

How will you decide which model id is for which asset, here you have to manually map asset to Model id and model categories.

Also regarding assigned to you can do a bulk upload for the assets. For example we can have a serial number and then in front of that model id and category and assigned to as well. Then we will do a transform map and some coding to map this Assigned to with asset and model ids with Asset.

HI,

See first what you have in cmdb_model_category table because this is a table for model category and then check Model Id table i.e cmdb_hardware_product_model.

So now you have to decide whether you have to first import Model Category and ID or do you have to create them on the fly using script. Also do you have any mapping between assets and the Model category and IDs.

We can also have import assets and then create this models and map them to category and Category.

HI,

See we can import you models no doubt but then you have to manually map this category and Model id to asset.

If you have any criteria to map this assets to Model ids let me know.

Thank you for your response.

Could you please explain, what do you mean when you say "If you have any criteria to map this assets to Model ids let me know" ?

Also here we want to make a record of assets assigned to employees hence we thought of using asset management. We will first import the asset to asset hardware table and make necessary changes in the form.
