Is there a way to edit/change the "short description" on a task or incident?

Whenever our service desk assigns a ticket to our queue in Service Now, they sometimes have very obscure/generic "short descriptions".   I would like to edit those sometimes to reflect the actual item being requested in the short description field so that when I pull up "my groups work" or "my work", I can easily see what I need to do without having to "mouse over" or "open" the task/incident to get a feel for what needs done.   Other ITSM systems I have used in the past allowed this simple function, but Service Now doesn't seem to allow editing of this field.   Why? (see attached screenshot of a frequent "ambiguous" short description that our service desk likes to use.

Ohk. then yes you are not eligible to edit the field as it is restricted for you. May be it is customized in this way in your environment. I believe this is the across all the users, i mean no one in your team can edit this field who has same roles like you.   You can reach/recheck your Service Now team ( if you are a service desk agent ) to discuss on this.
