itil_appointment record creator in attendee does not receive email notification.

When a user creates an incident task with himself as "on behalf of", and then creates an itil_appointment record using "New" related list button and then by a script adding himself as the attendee, he doesn't receive the email notification which is configured. But when he creates the task with someone else in "on behalf of" and then creates the itil_appointment record, that "on behalf of" person receives the email. To summarise, if i am creating the itil_appointment record and my user is in the attendee, i will not receive the email, but if i am creating it with someone else in the attendee that person will receive it.
Please let me know if someone has faced this somewhere and how to rectify that.
