Knowledge base field editable for knowledge manager after the article has been published

Hi All,

I need to make "Knowledge base" field on knowledge form to be editable for "knowledge manager" role users after the article is published.

I found one system property, "Enable minor edits to a published article without creating a new version (glide.knowman.versioning.enable_minor_edits)" which makes the field editable after the article is published.

But if we make the "Knowledge base" field editable, Is it feasible? and what will be the impact? is it recommended?

Nothing should be editable in a published articles as it has a wider impact. The versioning was introduced to make changes to knowledge article but that version is not available to end users until it is published and as soon as new version is published the older one gets outdated.

If editing to any field of published article is allowed some users may change the article with incorrect information and it will go to end users without any approvals which may impact the organisation wide users. So not recommended.

The best way is to do the changes in version and let it go through approval process before publishing.
