Message: Lock Wait TimeOut Exceeded, try restarting transaction

Received this error message in the processing of a Catalog Request, followed by a message indicating the Workflow for the Request Item had been canceled. I have absolutely no idea of how to restart a transaction....especially since there are no transactions in the Active Transaction queue.

I can't find any documentation for restarting transaction.....Can someone point me in the right direction?

Is this happening frequently?



The message you saw is actually coming from the database side, so most probably something else was happening at the same time over the same table and your transaction could not get a lock on the database table in a particular amount of time. This can happen occasionally, but should not be seen frequently.



In cases like this, you will need to reprocess/recreate the Catalog Request.



If the issue is happening frequently then I would recommend you open an incident on our HI system and we will investigate further for you.
