Hi Vinu

The main difference between a catalog item and an order guide is what happens after you submit them?

A catalog item works with the cart where you can add multiple and then checkout. On the back end it creates a request, request item, and possibly approvals and tasks depending on its workflow. A record producer is ordered one at a time and creates one record on the back end, most commonly an incident. An order guide is used to guide the user into ordering multiple items.

Catalog Items: Create and edit catalog items, the actual goods or services available to order from a catalog.

Record Producers: Enable records to be created directly from the service catalog. For example, allow customers to raise incidents from the service catalog.

  • Use a record producer to create task-based records only.
  • To ensure that standard service catalog processes are followed, such as initiating workflows as expected, do not create requested item records from record producers. Instead, create requested item using catalog items.

Order Guides: Create and edit standard groups of related items, allowing end users to easily order these items in one request.

  • Order guide submits a single service catalog request that generates several items.

Thanks & Regards

Hello,

Record producer:

A record producer is a specific type of catalog item that allows end users to create task-based records, such as incident records, from the service catalog.

From service catalogue you can create or raise incident.

For more detils you can refer this link

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/london-it-service-management/page/product/service-catalog-managem...

Order Guide:

Order guides enable customers to make a single service catalog request that generates several items.

It generates only one request but you can multiple requested item in it.

Suppose i have created one order for new hire

Create variables in it.

Like 1)Do you work from home??

yes

no

2)Do you have phone??

Yes

No

So base on that you can create a rule base

like if work_from_home is yes

add catalogue item  Laptop

if have_phone is no

add catalogue item  Samsung G2

And then checkout

So within one request you have created /order multiple item this is nothing but order guide.

You can refer below link

If my answer solves your problem kindly mark it as correct or mark helpful if it helps you anyway
