I'm looking for a way to manually remove or cancel a group approval that has been added by workflow. I can set the approval status to "No Longer Required" but that doesn't get communicated to the workflow so it waits forever for that record to either be approved or rejected. Can anyone advise how I can achieve this ?
Thanks

The scenario we have is where a workflow has added an approval group, but where the change management team want to override the workflow and 'remove' one of the group approvals (and it's associated user approvals) that the workflow has created. The best way for them to do this would be to set the group approval record to "no longer required" and for the workflow to mark that activity as skipped and cancel any associated user approvals. Currently the only thing the change team can do is to approve one of the unwanted user approvals so that the workflow will continue (not ideal as in reality the approvals weren't needed in the first place - for that specific change).

You need to add a new path from your group approval box for when an approval is set to "no longer required".
Also you may need to configure some permissions to allow whoever needs to modify other group approvals so they can set the approval state field appropriately. At this point it is a matter of letting the workflow take its course as you defined on this new path from the group approval.
For reference I have on demo.service-now.com created a new workflow (Remove approval and reflect in workflow) which has a manager approval (2nd box from start) with the "not required" option added. This should help point you in the right direction.
