Roles for Email Template Maintenance

All:

We're implementing a new instance of ServiceNow and I need to modify the email templates generated during Incident Management. I have no problem accessing and adjusting the templates as an administrator but the person I want to do the maintenance for the long term is not an administrator. Is there a role I can assign to the user profile that will allow access to email templates without having to assign admin access?

Thanks for the help,

  Eric...

Eric, you can try the template editor role but I believe that just allows them to edit their own templates like Incident templates. you may want to create a new role and edit the ACL for templates granting that role write privileges. By default anyone granted the ITIL role will also have template editor applied.

Thanks for the quick reply. I neglected to mention in my original post that we already tried all the possible combinations of OOB roles having anything at all to do with "template." None of them will allow either the creation of a new template or access to an existing one.

But I hadn't thought of setting up a new ACL. I'll give that a go and see if we can make it work.

Thanks again,

When I applied the template_editor_global role in sandbox (demo007), it dramatically changed what Beth Anglin could do.   So, try that.

You will need to create a new role and add it to ACLs for Email Notifications (and optionally Notification Templates) table.
