Hello all,
My manager created a task for me on "ServiceNow upgrade to the new UI".
Actually, when I asked him what it is about? He is saying it is different from Family version upgrade, and this has to be taken separately.
So, can someone tell me what is this upgrade to new UI and when this can be taken care?
Regards,
Lucky

Hi @Lucky1
It seems your manager means to refer to adopting the Next Experience UI (or Polaris), which changes the core navigation, interface, and user experience.
This is treated separately because it requires UI configuration, user training, and activation, rather than just backend versioning.
- It replaces the traditional "UI16" navigation with a modern, unified workspace experience featuring unified search, improved dashboards, and customized landing pages.
- While the code arrives with a family upgrade, the UI itself must be actively enabled and configured, often requiring a transition period where users can switch between old and new.
- It is usually triggered by a company-level goal to modernize tools, rather than just keeping up with yearly maintenance.
- It must be tested thoroughly in a sub-production environment to map how existing dashboards and UI policies work within the new experience
