Standard Change Catalog - How to create change tasks from proposal?

Hello all,

We are planning to implement the Standard Change Catalog in our Helsinki instance and I'm looking for some ideas/suggestions on how to allow users to create templates for change tasks within the change proposal.

Our organization has very specific and detailed tasks within these standard changes that can be assigned to different assignment groups and what we want to be able to do is allow users to submit a proposal with information for the change request, change tasks and affected CIs within this proposal that will then convert into a standard change template they are able to use to create changes.

How have you implemented standard change catalog in your environment? Suggestions and ideas are welcome.

A few ideas;

1.   Based on the options in the Change, make some standard tasks

2.   Allow them to create them as they see fit

3.   Allow them to create them but only using templates.

4.   From the Change Proposal add links to create certain types of tasks.

Thanks for the ideas. Can you please elaborate a little more on option 2. I would like to allow them to create these tasks as part of the proposal and with the standard change catalog I do not have that option. What are you suggesting?

I have implemented a solution for Standard Change Proposals to support Change Tasks as well. I have extended template table to allow definition of Standard Change Task templates. These templates are linked to proposal and defined in the proposal record in related list. Once the proposal is approved, the templates are activated as well.

Then you must implement business rule that checks if there are some change task templates linked to standard change template (via the proposal) and create them as well.
