Template Applied with 1 conflict - Assigned to

I have a user who has create a template which sets, amongst other things, the Assignment group and Assigned to fields on a new incident record. 

However when applying the template they get an error message  

 

Template Applied with 1 conflict

 Unable to update field"Assigned to"

I think the simplest answer here is that the template can't apply the Assigned to because it cannot validate against the Assignment Group because the changes are being made at the same time.  However, the user is adamant that this template was working until very recently.  Coincidentally, or not, we very recently upgraded to Paris.  

Has anyone else seen this and does anyone know of a solution?

We also faced similar issue recently when we upgraded to Paris. Users are having many Category, Caller values which is having issues. What I have found but I may be wrong.

In earlier versions, it was not checking the rules of the field like caller dependent on company, assignee dependent on Assignment group but in Paris version, it's checking the dependent. If it fails with the dependent rule then it gives error.

It may be a solution to the issue(dependent rules were not working) in earlier version.

I am also having a similar situation here.. when we apply a template the description fields is not getting filled with message: 

Template Applied with 1 conflict

Unable to update field "Description"

No I'm afraid not.  I haven't had any more instances of it which makes it all the more strange as there are a number of users with the same roles who seem to be functioning fine.
