Time zone on the user preference section

Hello Community,

 

I am working with the Employee Center portal and would like to remove the Time Zone field from the User Preferences section.

 

Could someone please guide me on:

 

  • Which widget is responsible for rendering the User Preferences section in Employee Center?
  • Whether this widget needs to be cloned to hide/remove the Time Zone field?
  • Any recommended or best-practice approach to achieve this customization?

 

 

Any guidance or references would be greatly appreciated.

I just tested with Abel Tuter as end user and he cannot edit any field in native when Profile is icon clicked. It does take them to native but form is readonly.

For end Users working in ServiceNow their User profile is usually brought via LDAP/AD and timezone also comes from there most of the times.

Hence they are not allowed to change the timezone as it might lead to data corruption.

Also if users change the timezone from Portal it doesn't get updated in sys_user record as it's just a user preference which gets changed.

Here is my end user with no role and timezone is editable.

For end Users working in ServiceNow their User profile is usually brought via LDAP/AD and timezone also comes from there most of the times.

--> It is not true every time, but yes at first it come form AD and then user can change it easily.

Just curious to know please share what role that person has in related list?

I think OOTB it doesn't allow but with some customization you can update timezone.

As i said no role. It is in my PDI.

Seems you missed my response.

You simply update that system property which is OOTB with the role you want and you need not clone/play with the widget
