Hello,
Just to tell you in Layman's language
What is relationship between HR service and catalog item in HRSD - HR Service is first steps towards configuring something which users can utilize to raise HR related request, generally HR service is required when creating cases from Backend like Interceptor page and only HR agents have access to backend interceptor like below. Visibility of HR services are controlled through HR criteria.
Catalog item , Precisely it is record producer and not catalog item - Record producer can be used by end users to raise HR related request and generally users raise request through Employee self service portal, Access to it is controlled by User criteria but whoever is raising request should satisfy HR criteria as well otherwise only Form will be displayed but once trying to create case it will show error so in short End user should satisfy both HR and User criterias.
What is relationship between HR service, Topic category, topic details and COE. - This is a flow and everything is enter connected.
Take a scenario like you have been asked to create new HR service named 'Payroll Discrepancy' so what you will do is following
1) Identity under which COE this service will fit in
2) Identify or create new 'Topic category' which service will fit in
3) Identify or create new 'Topic detail' and link to 'Topic category'
4) Once all three are done then create HR service which will look like this so all are interconnected.
Please hit like and mark my response as correct if that helps
