Hi - I just wanted to ask, what is the default maximum limit for adding service catalog items on a shopping cart for a Service Catalog?

I'm not aware of any way to tell someone their cart is "full". There is a way to limit the quantity of each item you get (e.g. so someone can only order 1 laptop at a time instead of 100.) That's defined on each catalog item, but there's now way to stop them from putting 100, 1 item laptops in there if they want to fill out the same form 100 times.

Hi   Jarvis

I had the same query in past and was looking for some recommendation from servicenow product team. Actually, we had one issue where workflow was not getting attached to the catalog item request. We found that user were adding around 30-40 catalog item in a single request and servicenow engine was taking a lot of time to process this request. The long duration for processing this request was because of our configurations and customization on the service catalog. There were some custom scrips running which was time consuming. After few mins servicenow instance used to display white screen. Scripts were running in the background and request were getting processed but the end user was thinking that there is some issues and used to close the browser or servicenow website before the request get processed completely. It resulted in improper requests.

In order to resolve this ,We reviewd our scripts and also put a restriction on the catalog that a user should not be able to raise a request with more then 20 catalog items.

So, it depends on the customization on the service catalog request, how much restriction you should set for the number of catalog items in a single request. I will suggest to do some test and try to raise some requests with different number catalog items. Based on the result and experience you can decide the limit.

Hello,

How did you restrict the catalog so a user could not request more than 20 items?
