Hi Prasanthi,

1. ITIL User - Can perform standard actions for an ITIL helpdesk technician. Can open, update, close incidents, problems, changes, configuration management items. By default, only users with the itil role can have tasks assigned to them.

Please check link: Reference

2. End user may/may not have any specific role assigned to him. They may create records but not work on them.

If this helps, please mark my answer as correct/helpful.

Regards,

Archana

Hi,

Since this is for an interview, it's really recommend that you utilize documentation and resources. This is a pretty fundamental and basic question that you could easily research yourself. Now, if you're struggling to understand something specific, then let us know and we could talk about it?

But the main thing, especially for interviews, is that you either know the information or don't. Else you probably shouldn't get the job.

Best of luck!

ITIL users (ITIL role) can perform standard actions for an ITIL helpdesk technician. Can open, update, close incidents, problems, changes, configuration management items. By default, only users with the itil role can have tasks assigned to them.

End users are all users in the system, they may or not have the ITIL role, they can request items, create incidents but can work on them

In the context of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), a user refers to someone who interacts with an IT service. The main difference between an ITIL user and an end user is that the former has more of a direct relationship with the IT service and its management, while the latter is primarily focused on using the service to meet their specific needs.

An ITIL user is typically involved in the design, delivery, or support of an IT service and may have responsibilities such as specifying requirements, testing and accepting new releases, or providing feedback on the service. They are more likely to have a deeper understanding of the service and its underlying technology, as well as its alignment with business needs.

On the other hand, an end user is a consumer of the IT service, who primarily interacts with the service through its user interface to complete specific tasks. They may not have a deep understanding of the technical details of the service, but are more focused on the functionality, usability, and performance of the service in meeting their needs.

In an interview context, it's important to show that you understand the distinction between these two types of users and their roles in the IT service lifecycle. You may also want to provide examples of how you have interacted with ITIL users and end users in your previous experience, and how you have been able to meet their needs and expectations.
