Why is itil and other roles added to a user when I add knowledge role?

I am wanting to add the knowledge role to a user, but without itil and other roles that go with it. How do I add the knowledge role without the other 8 additional roles being added to it.

Did you find a solution for this?
We have similar use case. We are using Security Incident and the security knowledge manager doesn't need to see the all the ITIL modules. Will removing the itil role from knowledge manager solve the issue?>

This is still an issue with one of our customers on London. I'm experimenting with removing the itil role, but I'm still interested to hear if anyone else has resolved this issue with a solid solution.
