Can I import existing articles to knowledge base?

Hi,

is it possible to import existing knowledge base articles to servicenow? If so, in which format? Excel? notes?

Our company will switch from an old ticketing system to Servicenow eventually. We will generate knowledge base articles meanwhile and we would like to make us of them later and import them to Servicenow. In which format should we create them to import them successfully?

Hi @Hana Pospisilova ,

In left navigator in ServiceNow instance, type "kb_import.do" and click enter.

It will open below page.

You can upload a word document (doc or docx).

Mark as correct and helpful if it solved your query.

Interesting question! Importing in ServiceNow tends to still be dicey, time consuming business.

And we've found that in particular, images and tables usually don't come through right. You still have to take a minute to add them the right way manually.

In addition to the other replies left, this info about getting rid of extra copy from Word docs may come in handy. Just offering it as additional reading.

You can read more about it in this thread. (In this thread, I also describe what our process has been for stripping formatting/coding from text and then inputting it into ServiceNow. We weren't importing from another KB though. We were going from HTML pages and Word docs in to ServiceNow. I also provide a Word template that you can use to directly copy/paste content and it will keep your formatting (such as bold, proper spacing, etc.). Look for that! It might help.)

Good luck! The work will be worth it in the long run. It's worth it to have a healthy knowledge base.

Hope you find this helpful. Let us know how your project goes and please reply if you have follow up questions.
