Can't resize tables within knowledge articles in Tokyo

Hi All,

We recently moved to Tokyo from Rome, we skipped San Diego. But when I try to change the size of tables in a knowledge article, it doesn't seem to let me change the shape of it in any way. i.e. I can't change the width of any of the columns or diagonally resize the table... When I hover over the corners or any of the column borders the cursor icon doesn't change to indicate that it can be resized by dragging.

All I get is a faint blue border appear around the table which I can't interact with:

Am I missing something? Do you need to resize exclusively via CSS now?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi, Chris! Could I please get some more information?

Have you tried using the table tool in the content tools? (That's how I've always done it.) Or, is it feasible to edit the size in the source code?

I've not resized tables using the method you describe, so I'm curious about this.

I usually format my tables in Word and then copy/paste them into SN, because the table tool has never worked reliably for us. I can't control padding as easily. And then the tables look crappy. So I do most of my formatting in Word first so I can get the settings the way I want them there. Then, when I copy/paste, the HTML comes out right.

I don't know if that's a viable solution for what you do. I can definitely understand the frustration of being used to the tables working one way and then suddenly they don't.

The only other thing  I can think of is are there editing settings or user settings and permissions that got messed up. Have you found any other items that you can't access nor edit the way you could before, such as images?

I hope this helps - I'm curious to learn more. Thanks!

Hey Chris, we just upgraded to Tokyo and I'm still able to manually resize tables by dragging. @Lauren Methena I created a quick GIF to show how this is done.  2023-02-24_10-26-21.gif

Thanks, Kim! I'm JEALOUS! This hasn't worked for us in the past. I can't get the columns to resize - and it's a huge PAIN that they don't. I will have to play around with this more.

I've found in the past that if one cell in a column is set to a specific size, it can prevent me from resizing a whole column, until I delete the size or shrink it. It's a lot of extra work to find the rogue cell, especially in a big table. But this is helpful. I'll keep playing with things on my end. I appreciate you!

When all else fails, create the table in Word. Paste into the article and select "keep formatting".

Yup. That's what I do now. It's almost fail proof.
