Can you disable article templates for specific KB's only?

Hi all

We have a number of Knowledge Bases and a number of templates which are shared across all the Knowledge Bases. Is there a way to limit/change which templates are viewed/accessed in particular ones?

For example, the IT Knowledge Base doesn't need to see the HR article templates and vice versa.

You can link templates to knowledge bases. Therefor you need to open the knowledge base and search for the related list "Article Templates". If you do not assign any template to a knowledge base, you can use any template.

If you do not see the related list, you have to add it to the knowledge base view.

Sebastian, as an addendum to this question, do you know if it is possible to turn off the Standard out of the box template? We do not use it, but I've not been able to stop it from appearing as an option even though it is not linked to the knowledge bases, or to edit it in any way.

Hi Sara,

The standard template is the parent class of all article templates and I do not know any way to deactivate it completely. However you can modify the interceptor/UI that it is not visible. Depends on what you are using. In the "old" interceptor you could deactivate it. (For more information check this post here.) With the new one, you need to write a script to exclude the OOTB standard template (For more information check this community post)
I hope that helps.

Hi Sebastian,

The particular Knowledge Base I manage doesn't have any templates assigned to it, but all the templates show up as options when creating a new article. I just want to use the Standard template, and make all the rest 'hidden' for now - if that makes sense.
