Expiring Knowledge Articles

Hi -

Glad to see the notification of expiring articles notifications that are avail in Paris. However, a little bummed that it seems to only send an email at the first of the month.

Is there an easy way to set up an alert to the Knowledge Admin when an article reaches its Valid To date. I'm looking for a backup to make sure article aren't expiring without someone being alerted.

thanks for any info!

You can create a Notification related to the Article Expiry Date.

also wondering instead of articles expiring....why not have SNow retire the articles when passing the Valid to date...at least there is already an approval workflow for that with notifications

Retiring is meant to be permanent (authors cannot move an article out of retirement - that must be completed by Knowledge Admins). It's recommended that an article be reviewed and either republished or retired if no longer needed, before the expiration date occurs. The expiration is essentially intended to force a review and republish if it needs to remain active.

We use feedback tasks to alert people to articles expiring within 30 days.  Can't say I recommend the approach because the articles still expire and the open tasks build up.
