Knowledge article subscription - notify what has changed

We allow users to subscribe to articles but not knowledge bases.  Users get a notification email that 'article x has been updated' but have no way to see whether there has been a fundamental change to the copy or whether the new version was just a typo correction or a change in category etc.

Authors can do the side-by-side comparison of versions from the back end, but there is nothing for the end-user as far as I can see.

Am I missing some OOTB functionality or has anyone had to build something to do this?

Thank you - got it!

Perfect!

This worked great for me!  Thank you for sharing.  I had no idea they added this to Service Operations Workspace. Much better than showing someone how to look it up from the History > Calendar view.

I feel like it's one of the best kept secrets! Much of my team has moved to the workspace to manage knowledge. Wouldn't it be great if we had an actual Knowledge workspace??!!

Well, it's not a secret anymore since I shared this with the rest of our KM team as soon as I saw this!  But yes, going back to @Leri Andrews original question: How do we get this side-by-side view into the Subscription email that is sent when the version changes?  They are the ones that would benefit the most from this.
