Knowledge Blocks - Short Description

Hi. I am trying to change the Knowledge Block short description after the block has been published and inserted into an article. I was told that blocks don't work that way and that I should just create a new block. Does anyone know how to change the Short Description without having to create a new block and start over from scratch?

 This is the expected way. As far as I know, you need to create a new block to make the changes.

I have had success in renaming knowledge blocks in the past. Just create a new version (similar to a new article version) and re-publish. One caveat...in articles where the block has already been inserted, you will see the old name unless you delete and re-insert the block. This is cosmetic only and doesn't really bother me so I didn't do the work to 'clean up' that issue.
