Outdated versus retired articles

New to Knowledge Management and appreciate your help.
When we have outdated articles that have been replaced by newer published versions, should the outdated ones really be retired? How do we fix that?

Is there a way to move the Retired KB article to Outdated? When I pull a report, it's confusing specially for someone else not familiar with ServiceNow.

Hello Rum, I get the confusion, but I would avoid mixing those two states. You could look into renaming Outdated to Prior or something like that. Also, to avoid getting into too much customization, endeavor to train what the word is. Either by trainings, guided tours, or hoverovers.
