I recently made a few changes on the now mobile search and felt others can benefit from the research I did. Below are a couple of use cases that might help.
USE CASE #1) Change the default text 'Search' when you click on the search icon on App
Before:
STEPS:
- Navigate to table sys_sg_global_search by typing sys_sg_global_search.LIST on left nav.
- Open the record 'Homepage Search - Catalog, Knowledge, People' --> This is the default, if you use a different search criteria then find that one.
- Change the text in the 'Placeholder' field to whatever you want to see in the search on mobile as default text and save
- Refresh the app on mobile and see the difference.
After:
USE CASE #2) Search Criteria searches for 'People, Service and Knowledge', change this to remove/add more sources
BEFORE:
STEPS:
- Navigate to System Mobile -> Search -> Search Configuration
- Open the record 'NowMobile App Search Configurations'
- At the bottom of the form, you will see the related list -> 'Application Search Sources'
- Delete or add new sources here.
- If you want to add a source not in the list, you can add one on the table 'sys_search_source'
- For eg, I am deleting 'People' and Catalog from related list -> 'Application Search Sources'
- Refresh the app and search again
AFTER:
I have tried the above changes and it works on iOS and Android alike.
