Custom "Pending Reason" field is not mandatory on Major Incident Workbench state change

Hi Community,
I have a custom field called Pending Reason [u_pending_reason]. On the standard incident form, this field correctly becomes mandatory whenever the state is changed to Pending.
However, when changing the state to Pending inside the Major Incident Workbench, the field is not prompted or made mandatory. The workbench updates the state while leaving the reason blank. Interestingly, out-of-the-box state requirements (like Resolved prompting for resolution codes) work fine in both views.
What I have tried:
  • Added the field to the Change Major Incident State (mim_change_state) form view.
  • Created a Data Policy to enforce the mandatory rule on the server level.
  • Cleared the system cache (/cache.do).
Despite this, the workbench bypasses the validation. How can I force the Major Incident Workbench popup to show and enforce this custom mandatory field?
