Dependency of Ai capabilities on Regulatory Change Management module

Hi everyone,
I’m currently exploring AI capabilities within ServiceNow and wanted to understand whether the Regulatory Change Management module is a prerequisite for enabling these features.
Is it necessary to implement this module to leverage AI-driven functionality, or can similar capabilities be configured and used independently without it?
I’d really appreciate any insights, documentation references, or examples from your experience.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thanks for the question. Short answer is no, the Regulatory Change Management (RCM) module is not a prerequisite for AI capabilities in ServiceNow.

  • For AI features that act on regulatory alerts specifically (Regulatory Alert Summarization, Alert Analysis Agent, Regulatory Action Plan Generator, AI auto-mapping to citations, control objectives, controls and policies), you'd need the RCM module, since those skills operate on RCM records.
  • For any other AI capability — risk identification, issue summarization, policy/control work, or anything outside IRM altogether, RCM is not required. You'd enable the relevant product module plus its Now Assist entitlement, and you're good to go.
