Hi community,
I am a little bit confused with the term subscription, roles and application in subscription management application.
Can I understand that way that 1 subscription = 1 roles per person, while the role control both what you can do and which application you have access to.
In addition, is the concept license existent within ServiceNow? i don't find it quite often.
Thank you community.

Hi @major li ,
Subscriptions: The application offers a unified view of all acquired ServiceNow products (such as ITSM, HRSD etc), enabling users to compare total licensed capacity with actual consumption.

Roles: The application depends on designated roles to operate effectively. The key role is usage_admin, which grants permissions to monitor, manage, and distribute subscriptions. Additional roles can be evaluated to identify whether they utilize specific product licenses.

Application: This application comes pre-installed (typically found under Subscription Management in the Navigator) and plays an essential role in monitoring user-based licenses, where access is granted based on the ability to perform defined actions.

Hi @major li
If you purchased 10 ITIL subscriptions, you are limited to 10 unique users who can be assigned the ITIL role.
You can have 10 users assigned 100+ roles, but if those roles require a license (like ITIL), only 10 users can have them.

thank you for the explanation. what is the difference and connection between the license and subscription here?
I thought the ITIL subscription equals the ITIL license. but from your statement, they are different.
