ServiceNow Developer Default Instance

Can the Operational Technology Modules and Plugins (OTM, OTSM, OT Discovery, etc...) be added to the default builds in the ServiceNow Developer Instances?

I tried to use the Update Sets that were mentioned in the forums, but this did not capture the module installs that I completed.

I understand this may require a larger default image for spinning up instances but seems like the addition would bring greater visibility to the OT components and capabilities as well as the separations and limitations for folks to learn about.

And would save me a bit of time installing the components again after my dev instance times out 🙂

Hi @OP2 - update sets to not capture the underlying modules, so you need to work through a two-step process.

1. Starting with a fresh personal developer instance, install the required OT modules/plugins.

2. Then import the update sets.

Hello Simon,

I was not able to capture the modules/plugins after creating and setting my update set as active so I do not have any update sets to import into the new developer instance.

Was playing around with different scopes but when using Global it didn't capture the OT modules/plugins that I installed.

I just created a new update set to install a plugin for testing but its been stuck on pending resource locks for a while, I will check back tomorrow 🙂

Hi @OP2 ,

This is irrelevant to the present thread, but could you please explain on the "Pending resource locks" issue. I am getting it frequently on my production instance when trying to run in some APIs. I am new to ServiceNow and I cannot find any other documentation or articles online for "Pending resource locks".

If you have any knowledge or background context, could you please guide on what it is and why does it come up? How do we troubleshoot/resolve it?

Thanks

The resource locks were finally resolved, and the plugin installed but is not in my update set.

Am I doing something wrong or is the developer instances functionality no longer allowing this?
