DIFFRENCE BETWEEN : Reporting and performance analytics reporting

i would like to know what major difference between a simple reporting and the PA reporting .

Let’s keep it simple:

Reports in ServiceNow show real-time data like a live list or chart of current incidents, tasks, etc.

But if you want to see historical data trends (like how many incidents were open every day for the past 6 months), you need to use Performance Analytics (PA).

So the main difference is:

Reporting = Real-time data (current status)

Performance Analytics = Historical data trends (past performance over time)

• Purpose

  • Reporting: answers “Where are we right now?”  - gives a one-time snapshot of the live records that match your filter.

  • PA: also shows now, plus “Where have we been and where are we heading?” - because it stores time-based snapshots (scores) and can forecast.

• How the data is captured

  • Reporting: queries the chosen table directly each time you run or schedule the report.

  • PA: background collection jobs write daily/weekly/etc. scores to pa_scores; visualizations read those scores, not the raw table.

Reporting -> shows current status

PA -> shows historical data, trends, predicting future trends, etc
