Thursday
Hi Experts,
I am working on a ServiceNow Dashboard Builder (Now Experience/Nova) dashboard.
I have created Weekly and Monthly Trend Analysis charts using:
- Data Source: Task SLA [task_sla]
- Metric: Count
- Group By: Priority
- Trend By: Created
- Weekly chart: Week by Created
- Monthly chart: Month by Created
I have also added an Interactive Date Filter (e.g., Last Month).
Issue
When I select Last Month, the data is filtered correctly, but the chart X-axis does not seem to adjust to the selected date range.
For example:
- Weekly trend still appears to retain historical week buckets.
- Monthly trend continues to show a broader timeline than expected.
- The plotted data changes based on the filter, but the X-axis does not re-scale/rebuild according to the selected date range.
What I have already checked
- Removed hardcoded date filter (Created >= <date>) from the data source.
- Trend By = Created (Week/Month).
- Y-axis range fields are blank (Auto).
- Interactive Date Filter is applied on the dashboard.
- Data changes correctly when filters are applied.
Expected Behavior
If the Date filter is:
- Last Month → X-axis should show only the weeks/months within that range.
- Last 7 Days → X-axis should adjust accordingly.
- Custom Date Range → Trend axis should rebuild dynamically based on the selected range.
Question
Is there any setting in Dashboard Builder / Now Experience to make the X-axis (trend buckets) automatically adjust to the interactive date filter?
Do I need to enable something like:
- Follow Interactive Filters
- Dynamic Time Series
- Auto Scale Timeline
- Hide Empty Periods
Or is this a known limitation of Dashboard Builder trend visualizations?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks!
