Best Practice for migrating Homepages to Dashboards

Our organization is currently transitioning from users utilizing homepages to utilizing dashboards.  I'm in the process of creating dashboards from old homepages and then going back and deleting the homepages.  Under Homepage Admin - Pages, every time I delete a homepage, a portal page titled "PA New Tab" is being created.  Does anyone know why this is occurring?  Also, what is the best way to transition from homepages to dashboards for all users?  We are currently utilizing the London instance.

We really pushed the users to convert their own homepages. I hadn't noticed the new PA New Tab being created? I'll have to go back and check that.

I did a few training sessions on reporting/dashboards and walked users through how to convert their homepages. I also showed them how to change their default setting to dashboards and highly encouraged them all to update their settings.

At some point we will probably default everyone to Dashboards but we just can't do that until we get everyone migrated over. Unfortunately we had a user base with a LOT of homepages. We're now at the point that there are very few left so I'll probably start auditing what's left and talking to the users about either deleting them or getting them converted.

 

Can you share the instructions on how to set the default setting to Dashboards?

Click on the gear in the far upper right corner, it'll open the configuration settings box - in the middle is a setting to change to Dashboards. As we do any kind of training we try to encourage people to update their setting to Dashboards.

I'm sure there is a way to default everyone to Dashboards but we haven't looked into that yet.

We are in the same place.  I prefer consistency and would like to move all of our IT Department users from homepages to dashboards.   Letting users do this one by one tends to perpetuate historical mess.

This is a huge project.  Users have been creating random homepages for years.  Very few are actively used.   Figuring out which are important, and naming and sharing appropriately is complex.  Here is my high level process.

STEP#1: Go through every homepage and convert relevant ones to dashboards.  Delete homepages as I move along.

STEP#2: Develop a master\global dashboard that works for everyone.  I then need to figure out how to activate dashboards for everyone and make that the default.

Looking for any advice on how to do all of this in an efficient way.
