Creating a Customized Calendar

Can anyone tell me if you have created a customized calendar in servicenow. There is a business impact calendar that we utilize to show acceptable times/dates   to perform maintenance in each of our respective service areas. We now keep that calendar report in Excel. I would like to create a calendar or import this calendar into servicenow so that this information is internal within the tool.

Please share your thought, comments. etc.

Thanks

Hello Jeannine,

In terms of storing the data, you can use the Maintenance Schedules to define those times when changes are acceptable. The advantage is that you can automatically make use of ServiceNow's change conflict detection, so as part of the change process you'd automatically know if a change is scheduled outside of those windows. That level of automation is going to be much more effective than an excel calendar.

You can use the out-of-box calendar report to show it as a calendar.

With Explore Analytics, you can take it further -- you can combine data from multiple tables (for example, Change Request + Maintenance Schedules), and put a lot more interactive controls in a UI similar to Google Calendars, like this example:

If you're logged in to ServiceNow, you can drill down to the records, and this can be published not only in ServiceNow's native dashboard, but in other portals as well.

Hi Guy,

I want to create a customized calendar for showing the shift timing of an employee.

How can we do this?

Thanks,

Y Anjaneyulu

If you are using Resource Management application in ServiceNow, such a calendar is already included OOTB and it will show you with different colours, when the user has scheduled availability. In addition, when using On-Call Scheduling you will be able to see when someone is in a shift, is the deputy and your group managers will be able to configure the shifts.
