Dashboard breakdown multi-select

I have a Breakdown on a Dashboard containing both PA Widgets and Reports.   Even though the breakdown is configured to "Act as Interactive Filter" that is configured for multi-select... the interface for the PA dashboard doesn't seem to allow more than one selection.

Contrast that with an Interactive Filter placed manually on a Dashboard:   Multi-select works great... except I don't know if it does anything for PA widgets.

My question is... can I get the Dashboard breakdown to work like that multi-select Interactive Filter?

I'm using a script includes to query the data and return it into my breakdown.

Thought about bucket groups too, but the point is the situation is too open.   The set of elements selected would be too varied.

Looking into the hierarchy rollup now...

I am certainly in favor of the hierarchy rollup.   There was a session on hierarchies in PA at the K16 and K17 (and I think we will have it again at K18) where we walk through this type of situation (and some others).

Could you please explain a little bit in detail on how to use the hierarchy rollup. We also have a similar requirements to select multiple groups on the dashboard breakdown.

Did you happen to go to K18?  There is a presentation that explains how this works that is available to anyone who went to K18.  I'm working on a write up of this, but it is a little complicated to explain in a comment.
