Dashboard Reports Not Updating After Being Altered

Hello SN community,

I have a question regarding the update behavior of report widgets used in dashboards. I am currently designing dashboards for my IT department, and as such, the names of different reports may be changing, and I would like to have that change reflected on all dashboards that use the altered report.

Currently, there is a disparity between the names of reports on dashboards, and how they show up in the report itself. I have attached two separate screenshots to this question: first, I have the open incident widget as it appears in the dashboard.

Second, is a screenshot of the same widget when we go directly to the report page to show it's new name which is also reflected in the report itself.

However, this change still has yet to cascade to the reports on the dashboards.

I am wondering if I am simply misunderstanding how reports are expressed on the dashboards themselves, or if there is some update timer that will change the reports over after a certain amount of time has passed.

Thank you to everyone for your time and patience in this question.

Just so everyone knows,

I still haven't found a work-around for this issue. Our team has simply been keeping track of our edits and when we alter a report we remove the report from the Dashboard and replace it with the same one that is now updated. If anyone has an automatic solution to this problem I would be very appreciative but I will mark correct for now.

Hi,

I have noticed the same in all the Versions of Service Now, it takes few minutes of time for the changes to get reflected on the Dashboard what you have done in the Reports. Same thing happens if you are using Translation using the Internalization plugin, the translation to different language takes some time to get reflected on the instance.

Hope this helps.Mark the answer as correct/helpful based on impact.

Hi Shloke,

Thank you for responding to my question. While I would usually agree with your assessment, unfortunately, the disparity that is being presented in the screenshots I attached is still present. I edited the report in the screenshot yesterday at around 4pm, this report, and all the others on the dashboard, still have yet to update.

Is my only option to delete the widget and try placing it again?

Make a report act as an interactive filter

You can configure an existing report widget to filter other report widgets on the same homepage or dashboard.

Before you begin

Role required: itil

Procedure

  1. Navigate to a homepage or a dashboard.
  2. If editing a dashboard, click Edit Widget.
  3. In the report widget, click the Edit widget icon (Edit widget icon).
  4. Select Act as interactive filter. This field appears only for reports that can be filters. Only reports with a Type value of pie, donut, semi donut, funnel, or pyramid may be filters.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Refresh the current browser page to apply the change.

What to do next

Click on a subset of data in the report, such as a slice of pie in a pie chart, to filter all subscriber reports for the same table. All subscriber reports on the homepage or dashboard for the same table show information about that subset of data only.
