Distinct Count on Non-Reference Fields

When creating a report that uses aggregation, such as a Bar chart, if you want to aggregate with a Distinct Count it only gives you the option to aggregate on Reference fields. I want to aggregate based on a String field (such as Number in an incident). How can you do this type of Distinct Count aggregation in a report?

I'm on Helsinki patch 5.


So, I'm wondering if I am having the same issue.  I need to email out a report off the CMDB_CI_WORKSTATION table where there are workstations that have duplicate serial numbers.  I only want to send out those duplicate workstations.  

Is this possible through reports? 

Are you still having this issue?  I apologize I overlooked this.
