Favourite Reports Broken After Australia Upgrade — UI16, Partial Platform Analytics

Hi Community,

After upgrading from Yokohama to the Australia release, business users without report_admin can no longer view their favourite reports. Instead of loading the report, the Angular Report Designer opens and shows the empty state: "Create a report".

This affects all users who:

  • Do NOT have the report_admin role
  • Have legitimate read/write access to existing reports (e.g. via itil role + group membership)
  • Were able to view favourite reports correctly in Yokohama

The same report opens correctly for users with report_admin. We are on UI16 with Platform Analytics only partially enabled — just a few reports, not a full rollout.

We reviewed the ACLs and scripts but haven't been able to resolve it.
Has anyone hit this after the Australia upgrade, particularly on UI16 with a partial Platform Analytics rollout? Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated

Update: We have reviewed the Platform Analytics Migration plan, however we are not planning to do a full migration to Platform Analytics as part of the Australia upgrade — that is planned for a later phase.

hi @Shah Jay

You can run the migration manually using the Platform Analytics Migration Center. This allows you to migrate all artifacts at once or selectively upgrade specific Core UI dashboards.

Due to customer feedback requesting additional time to prepare and review legacy content, Servicenow has extended to the time where may continue to create new Core UI reports, dashboards, etc. through the end of 2027.

As per Servicenow FAQ,

  1. What will happen to my legacy reports and dashboards when we upgrade to Australia?
    • Answer: Nothing will happen to your legacy reports and dashboards. You may continue to run and view them as long as you wish.
    • NOTE: Starting with Australia, legacy content will be accessible and integrated within the Platform Analytics UI. For example, you will see legacy dashboards in the same page as Platform Analytics dashboards.
  2. What if I encounter issues with my legacy dashboard or report after upgrading to Australia?
    • Answer: If you experience crashes, unknown errors, or other problems with your legacy dashboards or reports, the resolution will be to migrate or recreate the content in the Platform Analytics experience. We will no longer support legacy dashboards and reporting, except for critical security issues, once you upgrade to Australia or later.

Hi @Tanushree Maiti ,

Thanks for the article. I have seen it, however we are not planning to upgrade to Platform Analytics for now. It is in the plan for full migrations but not with the Australia upgrade.
