How can I give users access to add New Static HTML content blocks to dashboards?

Our users would like the ability to add HTML text to their dashboards which Admins can do via Add Widgets > Content Blocks > New Static HTML. It seems OOB we can grant the content_admin role however, this gives access to the entire Content Management application which is too much.

I came across this community post and went about creating a content_block_editor role which grants read/write/create permissions on the content_block_static table however, the "Content Blocks" widget category still doesn't show for users with this role.

I noticed that in Platform Analytics dashboards there is an OOB "Rich Text" element that these users can access, however is there a way to achieve this requirement in Performance Analytics dashboards?

Thank you in advance.

*Note - If I add the Static HTML widget onto the user's dashboard for them they can edit it providing they have the newly created "content_block_editor" role (without this they can edit it). However, I need them to be able to see the "Content Blocks" widget category, and be able to add the "New Static HTML" widget onto the dashboard by themselves.

Hi @richardyaxl ,

Just for clarification sake, why are you mixing things together. You both talk about content blocks, performance analytics dashboard and platform analytics....

Why not just have them create the dashboard in platform analytics and utilize the "rich text"? Besides the "rich text" you can both add performance analytics data and non performance analytics data to the dashboard.

If my answer has helped with your question, please mark my answer as the accepted solution and give a thumbs up.

Hi Anders,

All of our users currently use dashboards in Performance Analytics so having people create them in Platform Analytics is not an option yet unfortunately. We do have plans to migrate to Platform Analytics towards the end of the year, so worst case scenario we will wait for that.

Cheers
