How do I create a widget to show how many inc tickets were open on a specific day?

How do I create a widget that would show how many inc tickets were open on a specific day, in Performance Analytics? For example, if I want to show how many tickets were open on the first day of each month for the entire year.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Jeannie,

Understanding the 'first day of the month' would be simple enough, as a monthly collection would store a value for this each time it runs on the 1st of each month.

I have a bunch of Indicators set up which effectively do just that.  They run each month, counting how many tickets (Incidents, Problems, Requests, Change etc) were 'Open' at the point in time of the collection job.

If you wanted to pick an alternative day, let's say mid-month (15th or something) that's when you're more likely to run into issues as it's not a common frequency.  Not something I've ever looked into.

Hope that helps?

Thanks,

DJL

Hi DJL -

The first of each month would be perfect!  I'm new to PA - and wondering how I would set up indicators for this and run this correctly.  Right now, I'm looking for number of INC which were open on the first of each month.  I'm assuming a historical job would have to be ran at this point to grab prior data? Or start now and moving forward just grab?

Thanks!

Hi Jeannie - Since with incidents we can have Open defined as "Created before today" and "Resolved after today" you will be able to get this historically. However, I haven't done a historical job based on just first day of every month. Hopefully in the indicator source or indicator or job you can do this. I usually run everything daily and then do my analysis that way so I have first day and every other day in case I need it for any reason.
