Is there a way to view which users are using a dashboard

Hi, we have a lot of dashboards created by various users and we are looking to streamline our processes by creating reports that multiple teams can use, and removing any dashboards that aren't in use.

Is there a way to check if a dashboard is being used?

I have access to report usage in the Performance Analytics section, but I've found no mention of dashboard usage.

We are currently using San Diego but will be on Tokyo in a couple of months time.

Any help is appreciated!

Have a look at this blog which has a good explanation of a solution:

If this helps please mark as Helpful/Correct

Hi Rosie,

The requirement you've described is a very standard and it is what any good business would want to do: consolidate reporting products; single version of the truth etc.  So it is bizarre that Servicenow does not recognise this to be a capability built into their OOTB product.  Instead, users are left to craft 'hop, skip and jump' workarounds such as how Adam describes in Paul's linked post.

It is ridiculous.  Servicenow will happily patronise their customers in respect of 'performance' and yet they can't even get the simple basics right.  There is a great desire to parrot their favourite "actionable insights" buzzword, yet they can't even provide insight into which dashboards are actually being consumed; their customers will have no idea whether it's all just a house full of pretty wallpaper that no one ever visits.

I've personally lost count of how many dashboards are on our instance.  There are thousands of the things.  I've no idea who visits them or how often.  Why on earth should (well paying) customers be expected to deploy some sort of coding gymnastics to give them such basic knowledge?

As I said, Paul's linked post will probably help you.  But we shouldn't have to be doing this nonsense.

Totally agree, it should be basic functionality

I could only agree, I remember in the past it was possible to submit enhancement/idea request to ServiceNow. I don't recall the correct link or if this possibility still exists.
