I created this document in an effort to help customers get started with Performance Analytics. I figured this would be helpful to anybody new to PA. Any feedback is welcomed. I created two documents, one high level, and one field by field with use cases. The voice of the documents are meant for a Data Analyst that's familiar with reporting and business intelligence.
If this document has helped you and your organization please let me know.
FYI, this document will be updated on a regular basis.
09/18/2017 Explained a couple more methods to obtain and define a Breakdown Source. Covers Tables & Columns and Dot Walking
09/26/2017 Elaborated on what a Sys Admin needs to do to grant access to PA Admin role to view Table structure for Breakdown Source
10/09/2017 Added Data flow chart of all the options avaliable in Indicator Source, Indicator, Breakdown Source, Breakdown, Data Collection, Create Widget, Create Indicator, Create Breakdown, see the attached PDFs. There are about 150 options to choose from. Now that I've walked through the lengthy detailed way to create a Breakdown Source in the Step by Step, the easiest way to Create a Breakdown Source is to go to "Breakdown Source - Create New" which should map the breakdown source table, field, and breakdown map itself.
11/20/2017 - Sorry guys removed step by step, pa high level, and pa summary until further notice. The mapping of current PA process flows stay.
Next Addition: Breakdown Relationship Examples

Hey Dale,
Took me a couple time reading through to realize it actually is a chronological step by step. I think if you formatted it with numbers instead of bullets that would be more obvious, then run through the whole thing while building a single example. I think that would go much farther to making the connections that a PA rookie would be missing.

Thanks Dale, it certainly helped me understand some of the PA process a bit more.
Cheers.

Dale - this is great: would this be outdated or still relevant for PA datalflows right now?
