Hi,

Which platform is better to create reports for multiple data fields - Service now or powerbi ?

Servicenow:-

Cloude data and services is simply awesome. The best thing is its also supports to integrate autoCAD as well. Building Dashboard for Customers is very easy and able to support Users with Customer Support is awesome. Tickets will be auto generated and assigned and able to track the progress easily. Very disappointed with customer support, we had to wait 2 to 3 days for a response.

Power Bi:-
 
Power Bi has revolutionized the BI industry, it is the best too in self-service BI. I have been using it for more than two years and it helps me in finding great insights about our business. Personally, I have some trouble with the SQL. I get a tad bit confused on some of the tables to use but that is more personal human error PrepaidCardStatus

your question is like "Which car is better? Car A or car B?"

You should provide more details before someone can answer you.

Any decisions regarding a tools are driven by business needs. So for a evaluation you have to set up a criteria catalog aligned with your management.

The only thing I can tell you is that that the sole purpose of a tool like "PowerBI" is reporting and visualization of data whereas ServiceNow represents a complex platform where reporting is only one aspect. From this point of view, ServiceNow cannot replace PowerBI, but it could be the data provider for PowerBI.

Hey Maharshi,

I'm not sure what the exact detail of your question is, but I've spent the past couple of weeks moving two parts of our organization support function from Power BI to ServiceNow with a mixture of interactive reports and performance analytics. One from Finance and the other from Technology.

The best part of the outcome, real time data and interactive reports, with target driven trend analysis via PA. Leadership prefer looking at the source of truth rather than external tools.

Before

  • Manual export of data into Power BI
  • Manual manipulation for data quality
  • Manual circulation of PDFs via email
  • Flat, out of date data as soon as it is pulled out of the native platform
  • Power BI licence saving

After

  • Real time aggregated KPIs
  • Trend over time, target driven, forecasts
  • Interactive, allows deeper on platform analysis, proactive, transparent.
