Year-on-Year trend of Major Incident volume showing delta by quarter or month difference

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a dashboard visualisation in Platform Analytics and want to sense-check my approach before I commit to the config, as I haven't built indicators with breakdowns from scratch before.

What I'm trying to achieve:

A chart showing Major Incident volume trended by Opened date, grouped by Quarter, that lets me compare the same quarter year-on-year (e.g. Q1 2026 vs Q1 2025, Q2 2026 vs Q2 2025, etc.), ideally on a rolling basis as new quarters complete. I also need the volume split by Priority (1 - Critical / 2 - High) so I can see each as a separate series.

Why I've landed on Indicators rather than a Table report:

My initial build used a Table data visualisation directly against incident, with the condition below (tested and confirmed accurate against our data):

Priority is one of 1 - Critical, 2 - High OR Major Incident State is Accepted

(Context: prior to June 2026 we didn't have the Major Incident module, so P1/P2 alone reliably identified major incidents, since no other team was permitted to use those priorities. Since June 2026, we use the Major Incident module, and "Major Incident State is Accepted" identifies qualifying incidents, as rejected candidates never reach Accepted. So the single OR condition above holds true across the whole history without needing a date-conditional split.)

I’d like to compare each quarter with the same quarter last year, and have the change percentage/delta displayed on the chart or its scorecard. Is a Performance Analytics indicator with a Priority breakdown the right approach, and how do I configure the year-on-year comparison so it shows the percentage change?

Any guidance on the right indicator, breakdown, and visualisation settings would be appreciated.

Thanks
