Let's talk about security in a way that's easy to digest. As a ServiceNow Product Owner, I understand the significance of security hardening cannot be overstated when it comes to strengthening and fortifying your instance/platform
Imagine your ServiceNow Platform as a fortress, and the Hardening settings as the guards keeping watch. These settings throw down the recommended values for all things security-related, making sure your fortress (Platfrom) is as solid as a rock.
Now, here's where it gets interesting – the Hardening tool crunches some numbers to give you a compliance score. Picture it like a report card for your fortress, telling you just how compliant it is with the Security Center's hardening settings.
But wait, how does it calculate this score, you ask? It's not rocket science – it's better! Each hardening setting has a risk score ranging from 0 to 10, like a coolness scale for security. The compliance score is the sum of all compliant risk scores divided by the sum of all risk scores. Confused? Let me break it down.
Let's say your compliant risk scores add up to 25.4, and the total for all risk scores is 34.9. Get ready for some math magic – (25.4 / 34.9) × 100 gives you 72.7. We round up that fancy decimal to the nearest whole number, and voila, your compliance score is a solid 73.
Now, why should you care about this number? Well, think of it as a health check for your fortress. The higher the score, the stronger and more secure your setup is. It's like turning your fortress into an impenetrable castle – dragons and hackers, beware!
So, Folks, head to the Security Center, fire up that Hardening tool, and see your fortress's compliance score. Compare it with past scores, and if it's not flexing those security muscles enough, tweak those settings for an upgrade. Your fortress will thank you, and you'll sleep soundly knowing you've leveled up your security game! Until next time, stay compliant and stay secure!
