Change Conflict detection workflow

Hi All,

If there are open conflicts on a change request because of maintenance or blackout schedules, then will the change request be stopped from transitioning to next state? are there any extra approvals and changes in workflow? or does ServiceNow just notifies that there is a conflict and it has be handled offline ?

Hi @RC19

Out of the box, ServiceNow does not stop the state transition or trigger extra approvals; it only flags the conflicts as warnings, leaving them to be handled offline.

To block the state transition, you must add a custom check in the workflow or flow to prevent progression while active conflicts exist.

Hi @RC19

OOB , ServiceNow does not stop a change request from transitioning states or trigger extra approvals; it only flags conflicts as warnings, leaving them to be handled offline.

In my client projects, they typically follow only the out-of-the-box (OOB) features.

For your CI, if another conflicting change is shown, as part of BAU you should assess whether that change would cause an outage or whether both changes can be deployed simultaneously. Based on that assessment, you can decide how to proceed.
